The Genesis is a great effort by Hyundai, I think it killed any chance of the Nissan Sylvia/240SX making a come back since it's priced so competitively.

The genesis is a great car.
The looks test was unfair. Black on black genesis vs a blue on wheat G37?? This is one of the worst combos possible on the G37. It it was black/black vs black/black, I think the G37 would have won.

I can't believe the Gen coupe won in the looks/appearance section. That front end is hideous!

I'm personally glad to see any good press the G37 gets. It amazes me that it is not included in more comparisons. I subscribe to R&T and mags like that seem to want to compare the Corvette and Mustang to EVERYTHING. Its nice that they included it and noted the sophistication. It reminds me a little of the tests where one guys says, "for the money, I'd by to Corvette Z06s" and the other guy says get real, if you can afford it, "its a Ferrari!" Nothing wrong with the Genesis but, I'm with the guy who wants the Ferrari. I'm with the guy that appreciates the G.

...gotta give props to Hyundai on this one for making a great car. I don't thikn its on th level of the G37 BUT if one were car shopping for a coupe, you can't completely ignore it. If they had given it just a few extra ponies, it would certainly take away some G37 sales.

IMO, its the perfect car for people who have a stigma against "luxury brand" cars.
There are a LOT of maxima owners who don't step up to an infiniti because they don't want the 'snob factor' |

There's a "snob factor?" I thought that only came standard on BMWs...

Does anyone even cross shop the G37 and the Gen Coupe? They're marketed to much different targets. If I was looking at a Gen Coupe, I'd cross shop the Z or a Camaro, in which case the Gen wouldn't win.

That was terrible. It compared the Genesis to the v6 Camaro and the Gen crushed the Camaro in pretty much EVERY performance catagory. The Maro won by 1 "point" b/c the writers gave it like 8 extra points on the "gotta have it" category. Are you freaking kidding me? Talk about not wanting to alienate your reader base, what a worthless comparison. Heaven forbid Korea spank an American Icon. Too bad GM and Ford can't come up with anything original and have to selltle for throw backs. That's why I bought my G after selling my 420hp Mustang. Live in the now man.

![]() Very well stated. Coming from someone (me) with no biased twords any of the cars over the other..... I have driven a lot of different cars. I know this is an Infiniti biased forum (obviously), but I must admit, the new Gen coupe is every bit comparable to the G37 coupe......except in price . Magazine article writers like this have to cater to their advertisers and not piss anyone off, not bite the hand that feeds them so to speak. Therefore you have to look at any magazine car comparison as entertainment value and that's about it. More times than not, the outcome will favor either the majority of their readers taste or which ever company is paying the most money to them for "advertising". LOL Sad but true. Now I really like the Infiniti G37 sedan and coupe, and I also like the Genises Sedan and coupe. Personally I like the G37 coupe over the Genesis coupe for daily driving (if they were the same price), but since one of them is a lot cheaper it kinda helps even out the playing field. As for the track/ weekend driver I slightly prefer the lighter weight and more nimble, better proportion of the Genesis coupe over the G37 coupe. Also remember from a tuners standpoint, the Genises offers a 2.0 TURBO !! or the higher displacment 3.8 liter V6. With the Genesis there is A LOT more uncorked potential there to work with over the G, unfortunately. As for the G37 sedan and the Genesis sedan, I hands down prefer the Genises in every aspect, interier, drivability, power, plus it also comes with an optional V8 .I am sure most on here don't want to hear what I just said as you all are Infiniti owners already and it is natural to want to like and stand behind what choice you made at all costs, but I am just keeping it real. Now, I love the Nissan/ Infiniti brand, probably more than any other brand in that demographic and price range, but it looks like they might have a little more REAL competition here in the comming years and they need to step it up.
