hmm. interesting. i wrote my graduating thesis in project management, and one of my major study was to come out with a program/process on decision making. i based mine on deciding which car to choose. haha. its done using the AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process).
.
i would take the corvet ! its just more 'exotic' looking, even though its homegrown and the japanese is truely the 'exotic' one.

C6 gets city - 18-19 mpg and highway - 25-28 mpg!!! I find that to be amazing for a V8 car.

If I remember right it had a technology where it would only run on 4 cyl at a time in highway mode, pretty nifty idea.

I don't believe that is correct.

Think about it. Its a vette...why would you disable some of the cylinders???

To save gas. Car companies are now trying to build cars that are more fuel efficient to include sport cars. The new corvette has something very similar to the VVEL that the G37 has.

Exactly to save gas, I can't find a lick of data on the web about it though.. and I'm sure I read it on Chevy's site back in 2006 when they actually had info on the Corvette posted, rather disappointing now.

I totally agree. You are just getting out of college.

After you purchase your car will you still be renting?

Fresh out of school I'd opt for the car that offers a bit more humility.........

^ I think of it this way. I want to enjoy my money and my life first before I really commit and have a family. By then, I will have a more reasonable, economical car. As far as renting, I'm lucky enough for my parents to give me their house as long as I finish paying for it (which is not that much).

Sounds like you have a good head on your shoulders and very thoughtful parents. Everyone has different priorities with that being said it seems that your decision is clear.

Nothing similar to VVEL. It's a pushrod engine with a single cam. No "Displacement On Demand" in the vette. That's a GM technology that they use elsewhere. The reason the vette gets such good highway mileage is because of the very tall but not very usable 6th gear. In my SS, I would regularly get 28-30 mpg on long trips, but daily driving on the freeway I rarely used 6th gear and usually averaged about 18 mpg, which, by the way, is still damn good for a big V8. Right now I'm averaging 18-19 in the G.

Another RN here!!! Considered the fact that the vette was a 2 seater and I have kids, but I was very close to buying a vette. Bought my wife the MDX trying to validate my decision. Bottom line: I got the G37 because it has a back seat for the kids. I figure when they get older I may go ahead and get the vette. If you have no other financial responsibilities at this time, go for the vette. Who knows when you'll have another chance to get one. [putting flame suit on for all the financial advisors in here, LOL]

^ Men, those new Acura MDX are freaking sweet. But you are right, I will never get another chance until I retire.
