35 or 37?

Obviously, I'm new here. I looked around on the newbie corner for a few pages and didn't see my question, so I hope this isn't a tired old question.

I'm trying to decide between a low-mile '07 G35 or a new G37. Can you guys share your thoughts?

G35:
It might be weird to say, but I think I like the way the 35 looks better than the 37. I like the back of the 37, but the front looks kinda fat and family sedan-ish. But I remember when the new BMW 3series came out, I thought I liked the E46 better but after a year or so, the 90/92 really grew on me. I'm thinking it's possible the front end of the 37 will grow on me too.

The 35 will be about 10/15 grand cheaper. With the economy the way it is, that's appealing for sure. Also, in the first year, the 37 will take a mean old hit on value. The 35 will drop too, but I'm thinking that first-year hit in this economy might be extra bad.

G37:
I love the rear end. I also love that it's the new body style so it'll last longer (looks-wise). The 37 will look fresh and new for at least 3-5 years while the 35's days are already numbered, so to speak. It's officially the previous model, yanno? Especially if the 37 grows on me and I end up liking it over the 35, I'll really appreciate it's like-new look for the next half decade! Zero miles is appealing, too. Is the oil consumption thing ironed out with the 37? I like that I can also option it the way I like and can probably pick the color, etc I want. With the 35, I'm limited to my search criteria (low miles, 6spd, etc)

OK, so, I hope that wasn't too confusing and jumbled. It's late and all I've been doing for the last few hours was reading posts and looking at G stuff. :P

I'm so excited! WOOHOO!

Thanks for any help everyone!

well, to be honest i really wanted to a g35 in the beginning too. the g37 didn't really grow onto me until i had it for a while... the interior is completely re-done and i have acclimated myself to the new g... i love it. i don't think i'd go back

if it is financially feasible, then i say go for the g37... you'll have warranty so you don't have to worry about repairs or out of pocket costs, and you just get an all around bad-azz car!

either way good luck with your decision.

Go with the G37 if it is reasonable for you. The front end has grown on me too and don't forget you can always make it more appealing to you with add ons as they come out for the car.

if you don't feel like you really like it, don't get it. Get the g35.

^ Don't listen to that! Ive had both. The g37 is an all-around better car. Go test drive a G37 and closely examine it before you make a decision. Oh, and check out the photo gallery here on this site and maybe you can find a few rides that may pique your interest.

Goodluck on your purchase!

I had a G35, now I have a G37. The G37 is a much better car, most things I didnt like about the G35 they fixed for the 37. The interior is 1000X nicer too.

the G37 is more refined than the G35 coupes... plus you'll retain a little better value in the long run w it.

Wait til you get inside the 37, the 35 does not compare.

As far as the financial aspect of things, you lined out the logical arguments pretty well and have to decide what's right for your personal situation for yourself.

As far as the car itself, I was of a similar mind as you are regarding that. Loved the 37 rear and profile, liked it 35 agressive nose a little more. To echo the thoughts of previous posters, the front end has truly grown on me and I really love it now. I like the sexy subtle curve of the front fender bulge over the wheels, the sleek swept back look of the headlights, and the look of the sport lower grille. The interior is not even a comparison, G37 all the way hands down. 37 wins on the performance and technology front as well. No oil consumption except for a few isolated cases that I'm aware of. Hope my opinions help.

Plus, you can get a really cool grounding wire kit for the G37 that isn't available for the G35!

I had a 35. When the 37 came out I didn't really like it.
When I parked my 35 beside a 37 , the 37 looked better from every single angle. Then when I got inside the 37 that put me over the top. The 37 is just an all around better car. You'll see once you examine both of them.

You realize you're asking a G37 forum about whether they would go with a G37 or a G35 right?

The front of the car and interior were the big aesthetic things I liked about the car when I first got it, the rear end took me a long time to get used to with the wrap around tail lights. In many ways I still like the design of the G35 rear lights. In every other way though the 37 was superior to my old 35. But really is that a surpising answer at all?

Yup, sounds about right. I know you guys obviously picked the 37, I just wanted to know your thoughts between the two. It's also the reason I didn't ask this board about other companies I was considering. *ahem* BMW *ahem*

I figured many of you came from 35s, and since I was kind of leaning towards the 35, I wanted to hear what owners thought about the two, from this end of it. I tried posting in the 35 forum, but after I typed out the above, I was over it. I was planning on going back tonight to post over there.

So, yeah. You guys are awesome! Thanks so much. I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one who liked the 35's front end better, but that the 37 grew on you. I honestly liked the 35 front end, but now that I'm seriously considering the 37.. It's starting to grow on me too!

I've already tested 35's and I REALLY liked them but I have to say, when I sat in a 37 I was super impressed! I LOVED the interior waaaay more than the 35! OK, I'm off to look at 37s this weekend.

Oh, what do you guys think about the size? I really like the 3series/G35 size. The 37 looks so big to me! Like a big ol' boat. I haven't seen the 35 and 37 next to each other though. Is the 37 that much bigger?

Thanks for the help guys!
