Help on Exhaust options!!
I just got my G37 and love the car. I would love to make it faster by installing a full exhaust but don’t really want the loud noise.
What do you guys recommend? I want a full exhaust and test pipes. What is the most quiet option with out compromising power. |

Congrats on your purchased of the G37 and welcome to MyG37. Is is a '08-09 Coupe or a '09 Sedan? Be sure to post pics of it. It really is a great car. If you want to increase performance (make it faster) but don't really want the "loud noise" then you may want to consider the Fujitsubo, except it is only axle back and not a full system. It is made in Japan and is supposed to be quiet. Also, being new to the sight before some less patient users jump on you, consider using the search feature at the top.

Thanks, it’s a 09 Coupe, only 300 miles on it, I originally got it for my girlfriend but I think I’m keeping it!!
I love this thing!! Thanks for the advice but I want a full exhaust. I don’t think a axle back will increase a great deal of power.. |

Test pipes will make any exhaust you install, noticeably louder... just an FYI.

Welcome on board,
I think custom will be your best route. OR just order any exhaust you like and load it up with silencers.

Any exhaust isn't that that loud on Gs......to me.
Except you get a test pipe or 3inch exhaust.

I have an auto trany. Still undecided on what to get and I may go with HFC hopping for more power and less noise...

If you don't want it to be loud don't do Test Pipes. I have the MXP exhaust, which has great sound). I added Berk Test Pipes and it's REALLY LOUD (IMO). Later, I added the R2C intake which is really nice too. But, I can't even hear it over the Test Pipes.
...Just my $0.02

+1 once you start modding behind that catback you're just asking for trouble (sound wise)

I think the quietest so far are stillen and fujitsubo for cat-backs. As for test pipes, you can go resonated, but they are still quite loud I think.
Welcome~

If your not looking for anything too loud, you should definitly go with the Stillen... It has what you are looking for:
1. Not too loud ( Said to be slight louder than stock, but still keeps the nice deep tone) ( Or you can check youtube for actual sound clips) 2. Full Catback exhaust ( check Stillen's website for more details) ( Check the June 2008 Import tuner mag for a complete Test & Tune *Link Below*) ( Or any of the latest Super Street mags for the Stillen ad ) 3. Provides power ( dyno proven, check Stillen's website for more details) Check out Stillen's Test & Tune on Import Tuner: Let me google that for you Good luck with your decision and happy modding ! shoots !

Thank all of you for your help, really appreciated. Will look at the Stillen and see if there are some High Flow Cats that will give good performance and minimize sounds. I will take the car to the Dyno before and after for HP gain if any. I will also do the intake and the "flash"
I have never had the “flash” done on any car have no idea what this is?? I know is has to do with the stock computer and how the fuel air ratio will compensate the upgrades of exhaust and intake in my case.. Well I think this is another topic anyway,,, Thanks for everything guys Last edited by rcruz2525; 09-09-2009 at 07:48 AM. |
