Good Review...

As I said before If you are going to be a "Intake Only" car then your gains will be high like this....

If you plan on an aftermarket exhaust then it really doesnt matter what intake you have or even if you have one.... Id rather get my gains from an HFC or exhaust presonally... but other people who are afraid to mod much will love an intake only 16.5 hp gain...

Review = GREAT

Good write-up Danny. I was also in disbelief when you first told me about the numbers, but the dynos proves otherwise. I wish I could freakin see them right now, I'm assuming you used photobucket since they block this at work.

Time to put this on the short list of mods to come

Nice! Another chapter in the Injen story book. I always wanted this intake for the look and sound but never got it because of lack of power and also still the fear of hydrolock. I may have to reconsider.

Can you just slap an Injen in and call it a day?

Or do you need to tune/reflash/cobb AP ???

Thanks guys

You don't need a tune. My result is without a tune. But it'd definitely help. Check out neverbonestock's review, he tuned the CAI and got even better gain with other mods too.

That's the thing, i dont have other mods. I was planning on running with a CAI for a little while thinking i could just install it and be fine...

Then i read about a trillion posts on here saying that i need a tune, or the car will run rich or something along those lines.

Basically my question is, can i install an INJEN CAI and get decent gains, without having to do anything else to the car and without damaging the motor or any other parts>>?

Sorry if i am posting in the wrong spot, but your review was so thorough i figured this was the place to ask..

you don't need a tune unless you have MANY parts... because then you wouldn't get the most out of your tune, and in the future if you add more parts... you're just gonna pay more for another tune.

from what i've been reading, it won't harm the motor. even if you run lean.

Lean, thats what it was...

Thanks

For argument's sake, is there a way to counteract the engine from running lean? Like changing oil to something thicker or something along those lines.

Will synthetic make the car run more lean, or are they totally unrelated?

leaning and riching is only related to ratio of air to fuel.. only way you can mess with those parameters is using a tune..

What i was saying is that the power gain shown could be from the leaning out of the fuel due to the new intake just being put on. From my tuning experience on american cars which are not nearly as smart or technical as these cars, when you first put a new part on you can show gains like this but your computer will compensate by adding more fuel to the motor since it is now getting more air. The only true way to go back to back would be by reseting the ecu letting it relearn the air flow and seeing how much power you make after this.

Now if you have a after market tuner you can keep this "lean" mixture indefinantly and keep the power

yes that is where you get your HP from.... stock + injen got ucla 16.5 due to leaning it out... I would bet alot of money that if ucla did a stock + exhaust dyno he would get around the same numbers +/- a couple. and again Id bet alot of money that if ucla dyno his car with exhaust + injen he would get around the same numbers as well....

A/F ratio is where its at with this car. If you want power... get a power adder...

Exactly. But I think his power numbers will drop once the omputer compensates for the increased air with increased fuel.

Good review, when I put in my Injens before my HKS, I would totally agree with your findings from the butt dyno. I've been running the Injen/HKS setup for a over a year now and still in love with them. I live in the westcoast where we have lots of rain and is the perfect setup~
