Boudin

Does anyone love boudin as much as I do? Where's the best that you've ever had?

It's a very tasty type of sausage. It's regional. It's eaten in France/Belgium and south Louisiana and other parts of the world in different forms. I'm talking about Cajun boudin. It's spicy (usually) and is typically made with seasoned rice and pork.

Never found it in Atlanta... Had it in New Orleans a few years ago. I wish I could remember the name of the place.

I could ship some frozen on dry ice if you really want it. I drive 183 miles one way to get it. To be honest, I usually pick some up when going to New Orleans for a Saints game or to visit relatives, but one little country store in Scott, LA is almost he only place I'll get it from now and the best I've ever had. I usually buy about $60 worth frozen and keep it in the freezer for a while. It keeps very well frozen.

boudin is my FAVORITE food besides chicken and sausage gumbo!

Market Basket by my parents house is the BEST in the world.

Where is that? I'm always looking for some that's better than Best Stop in Scott but have yet to find anywhere better.

This is the approximate location. From what I can remember, there's only one Market Basket on Country Club Rd, but there are a couple more on some of the adjacent streets further down the road. Looking at streetview, I can't seem to locate it, but it's there.

The sad thing is, the boudin at other Market Baskets is nowhere near as good. The meat dept manager at this particular location uses his own recipe to make it. He's branched out and started to teach his recipe to some of the other MB's around, so they're slowly starting to be better.

So if you're ever cruising through Lake Charles on I210, consider stopping off for some!

Also, if you've never been there, Steamboat Bill's in Lake Charles off of I10 near the boats has great boiled crawfish. Their best thing on the menu are there shrimp etoufe and crawfish etoufe pistolettes.. MMMMMMMMMM SOOOOO GOOOOOOD.

also, if you're just travelling along the I10 corridor, you can stop at Boudin King in Jennings/Lake Arthur.

Many people swear by it as being the best boudin around, but I say nay nay... it's way too ricey for my taste.. I like some meat in my boudin!
