Theres a sandwich shop in the OC "Lee's Sandwiches", and the combination sandwiches people order and eat, contain shredded pigs ear. haha.

Durian as a fruit may be pungent but I had a Durian milk shake at a Vietnamese restaurant and it was OK, kinda like coconut taste but more bitter..

I recently got into Pho...I love throwing those mint leaves and sprouts that come with it...sprinkling some lime and hot oil saice with crushed red pepper into it. its amazing....the kind I get has beef flanks (thin strips), beef tendon and some tripe too which has an interesting texture....after hot oil is in it and i Put the leaves and sprouts in it, it's so savory and hearty I love it. I get a delxue large boul of it for just 7.50 so its very fairly priced. PHO is real good for the beef and savory soup lover!

my mom makes different kinds every week so i do not have to pay 8 bucks a bowl. the asian herbs make the pho have a really distinctive smell.

Me make Pho? The broth that goes into it takes some work and its an old Viet tradition I dont think Id be able to get it right, I mean with some practice Im sure I could but theres a nice sense of authenticity when having it made by people native to the land. The spots I go to are in a town where almost all the Viets of metro-Detroit live near so "Thuy Trang" staff hardly know any English and 90% of the clientele are local regulars and Vietnamese themself so it's a pretty authentic spot. Oh and the English descriptions on the menu are bad! haha.....Good stuff though. This winter, Michigan gets cold, I plan on havin hot Pho like 2x/month!!!!

yeah, you have to get the right stuff and amount to make it taste right. get yourself a vietnamese gf so, you can go to her parents house and freeload pho off of them. ha.
