I want to see the 2.5 L engine back, but with twin turbos. Mildly boosted with somewhere around 270 hp and 270 ft-lb torque it would be a nice entry level Q. THEN we could tune it!!

More like 330 (underrated) hp and 330-350 torque.

Long live the NA engines!
Turbo and DI are very hard on oil and bearings, they're same as overclocked CPUs, bad for durability and longevity. But I guess the government doesn't care and force manufacturers to do so in the name of energy conservation while the nation is becoming the world's largest oil producer. Guess more landfill does not harm environment.

Bet they will put turbo and DI in it. Funny this is a huge letdown of Infiniti's PR, thought the Q50 debut would be a big event. Many media outlets do not even mention Infiniti. This is one of them, really?13 cars to watch in 2013 - (1) - FORTUNE.

That because (with exception to the Mercedes) they only selected cars with the most ridiculous and hideous rims imaginable. Go back and look, you'll see what I mean.

So I'd say, be encouraged that Infiniti will offer a wheel that's actually appealing, like they used to.

+1

A couple of things. Even with CNN Money and Fortune the old adage applies: "Opinions are like you know what....everyone has one".

Secondly in this age of fuel economy and reduced emissions, they dare to mention a Silverado and Escalade? Two of the most gas wasteful passenger vehicles in the world. And the Escalade they say is a 2015 model.

Honda is winning the most boring car company award which used to be owned by Toyota. They are, however, getting more press time recently, isn't their PR still better than Infiniti's? What else has the new guy done besides putting together a ridiculous naming theme?

Press and advertising doesn't sell cars; you may think it does, but it doesn't....just ask Acura.

A good car sells itself.

Agreed. The new Accord is designed exceedingly well, and is totally at the top of its class... for people who don't care about cars.

Yet they still managed to sell more Acuras than Infinitis made me scratch my head every time. BMW does the same thing, ultimate driving machine, huh? And..Apple..anyone?
December and Full Year 2012 Sales Table | The Truth About Cars
Infiniti needs to strengthen its premium image and buy more press time like what they did in 2002 when the first generation of G35 was introduced which save the company from being half dead.

No. The lineup may have sold more re the tsx and the Mdx and now the Rdx. But their TL and rl. Meh. The g37 trounced the TL in sales. The Mdx compares with the jx and tsx has no direct correspondence in the infinite lineup. The q56 is a Lexus 570 competitor not Mdx. Rdx maybe equals ex. Acura sales are not based on the TL or rl. Their two flagship sedan. The ilx has been panned, and their other one the over 50k crossover has also not gotten good reviews.

As a shareholder, BMW to me is deserving of every dollar they get.

Acura has a larger dealer network than Infiniti does and their best seller is the MDX. Acura sold almost as many MDXs (50,854) in 2012 as Infiniti did their entire truck line (50,903). The JX did fairly well at 21,674 units.

On the car front, the G sedan did well at 46,828 versus 33,572 for the hideous TL. The M was down 15.6% in 2012 and a bit of a disappointment at 10,818. They need to do something at the MMC to spark sales of the M as it is largely an afterthought to the 5 series/E-Class/A6/GS crowd.

Cars
Acura 75,067
Infiniti 68,974

Trucks
Acura 81,149
Infiniti 50,903
