Did my Akebono BBK install today! pics inside of the process and issues!
The front ones went pretty smooth compare to the back ones! This is not step by step, just quick steps when i had time to take some pics.
The front were First.
The Z1 Motorsports "Premium" Stainless Steel Brake lines
NOW here's the back issues and problems.
To get to the bottom 19mm bolt that holds the caliper you had to raise the rear suspension up to get some clearance. That wasn't too bad, I got that quick.
just a comparison...
trimming process of the rear dust shield,... those cutters worked great!!!
NOW THE PROBLEM... I bought Z1 motorsports stainless lines and that's how the rears looked compare to what i needed vs OEM
Now when you use the stock line for the rear caliper that bolt right there wouldn't close all the way. That'ts where it stopped and wouldn't go in any more. You see that space on the end? That's how much in needed to go in more after it's being already tight. And yes the 2 OEM copper spacers are on there, just hard to see
So I had to go to autozone and get some washers
Had to install some washers and tighten the line up all the way. This worked when I was bleeding the brakes, no oil leaked out. ... Later I didn't drive the car yet though cause I will have another big issue below
this is rear being complete.
Now when I was putting my rear wheels back on with 5mm spacers on there already, my rear calipers didn't clear! i had no idea this would be an issue. Need to get some 10mm spacers now =(
And when I was installing my rear wheel, I scuffed up one of the rear calipers with my wheels accidentally. Will need to get that fixed now! Can't drive the car until i get some spacers!

nice job man. i did a similar install. for the rear you could have just used an open ended wrench so you wouldnt have had to raise the rear.
stainless steel lines i got them from ConceptZ. amazing they replace the entire oem set up so you avoid the rather dangerous multiple washer application.
but they do look sweet.

Ohhh and I couldn't find that bolt anywhere so i ended up buying washers. And dealers part department doesn't work on Saturdays.
Ohh and BTW no body ever mentioned on the forums that the rear OEM banjo bolt doesn't work for the rear Akebono calipers. It was always the issue with the front.

@Shurik355, my point is that you should get the right parts and do it right. Your solution is temporary at best. If it was me, I wouldn't be driving a car with questionable brakes. You're putting yourself and others at risk.
On a side note, based on the difficulty you had getting the old calipers off, i'm curious when the last time your brake were serviced? Probably wouldn't hurt to pull 'em off every 2-3 years just to make it easier to get them off next time.
