Help Pls! Rattling noise going over any bump!

I’ve had my 2009 G37 Sedan for about 6 months now and it has been flawless till lately. There is an annoying sound that is coming from the dashboard I believe behind or near the odometer whenever I drive my car over a bump. It sounds like a loose screw that rattles every time I go over a bump. Even a minor middle of the road speed bump when you change lanes causes it to rattle. I tried to look for it but I can’t find anything. It is really making it un-enjoyable to drive.

Has anyone experience this in their car? I am due for an oil change soon. If I take it to the dealer, will they look at it for free? Or would they charge me?

Any help would be really appreciated!!

Assuming your car is under warranty, take it to the dealer and have the guy listen to the sound. They should have it fixed for free.

So i live in cali, and the noise just went away with the weather getting warmer.

So the noise only comes up when it is cold outside, below 50ish. (I know 50 is not cold in many places).

Anyone else have similar problems?

my friend's 2009 335i costs over $20,000 more than my 2008 G and it has just as much rattles and even more mechanical and electrical issues.

I have exactly the same problem, here in Canada the cold weather is longer, i noticed also when the weather become warmer it dissapear. I know we have pretty bad roads, but even on newer roads i can hear it. Last time i was in to infiniti for an oil change, i didn't talk to them about that, i didn't have any time.

I am a pro for detecting where the sound is coming from, i have had 2 acura TL before, and believe me there's a lot of weird sounds to find. I have always found them all.

For me, it's almost like if a windshield is a bit loose, or may be something loose under the dash. But i don't want them to dismantle the dash and have more bad noises after.

The sound is a ''pop''sound , like 2 plastics parts that stick and unstick

Try and put your hand over the slot where the keyfob inserts in the lower left portion of the dash and hold it. The two "doors" on mine rattle sometimes.

Super2010, please let us know what the dealer tells you. I am very interested from hearing back from you.

As for me, the sound is completely gone now and I don't think the weather in California is going to get any colder any time soon. So i might not be able to bring it to the dealer till next winter.

San~man, are you talking about the key fob slot where you put your fob in, incase the battery on the fob runs out?

I have this problem too but i just ignore it. If i wanted this fixed the dealer would have to tear up my dash, which would probably cause more rattles then before.

I think you're hearing the plastic seat-belt hanger on the passenger side that wiggles...
