yeah, I want a permanent fix. It's sort of ridiculous to tear my car up, and then cover it with sticky foam rubber.

Are you sure you would even hear it?

I've actually become used to my whine at this point. It really is very minimal (maybe that's why it was so annoying at first). With stereo on, even at very low volumes, the noise is essentially baffled. With normal conversation and no stereo, the noise is negated. With road noise at hwy speeds, the noise is basically negated. At this point I think my brain has compensated by learning **not** to hear the noise - and none of my friends can hear it unless we sit in complete silence and withhold breathing. Which is just weird.

So at this point, it's not really enough of an issue to get me to let a mechanic tear my dash apart and cover my ecu with foam meant for trapping heat. Just doesn't seem wise. I'll wait until Infiniti comes up with an ecu swap or something, then I'm just not going to do it.

So this foam insulation fix.....was it Infiniti's solution for the problem or was it your dealer's solution....

I haven't heard back from my dealer that Infiniti has come up with something.

thanks

I have this too. 2009 G37x with Premium, no Nav. I also noticed it on a 2009 G37 Journey that Hertz rented me in Houston, TX. It's a 12kHz tone, sounds electronic (like something is oscillating), definitely not a mechanical noise. Only happens when engine RPM is at or above 1000 and emanates from the right front area of the car.

Dealer (service manager) said it was Infiniti's idea, not theirs.

Just wanted to share my story. Glad I'm not alone.

I found the noise around 2000 miles. The Infiniti dealer replace the fuel pump and now the noise is even louder. The noise will over power my bluetooth and when music is low or if I listen to a soft slow song Everyone in my family can here it even my dad who is over 50.

I just took it in for them to look at it again. I work in the car business so I will be pushing to get this fix all the way, with the Infiniti Dealer and Infiniti themselves. I'm prepare to take in to court and my lawyers are standing by. I will keep you guys inform on the issue.

My car is now doing this. Very loud at 65+ mph. I noticed it on a trip last weekend, and rougher pavement definitely made it worse. It seemed to clear up once I got back on better pavement. I heard the noise again yesterday and this morning and different pavement didn't seem to make a difference. I was shocked at how loud it was, and would have noticed it before if it was there since my dad has trained me well on how to hear virtually EVERY wrong noise in any car. My car now has 8K+ miles and the problem has just now appeared. It's definitely something that's oscillating, but I can't seem to figure out the source. I've shut off the display, etc. to see if any of those might be making the noise, but no difference. I'll add it to the long list of things for the dealer to look at.

Thank goodness for the internet! I noticed the high frequency noise in my car a couple days ago. I have an 09 G37 w/ 2200 miles on it. I don't know if I have really sensitive ears, but this is something that I can't just "live with". The sound gives me a headache and actually makes my right ear sore like I have an ear ache. I'm going to take my car to the dealer next week. From what I've been reading, I'm not optimistic at all that they will be able to fix the problem. Honestly, I'm sure they'll claim they can't hear anything at all.

Please keep the rest of us updated if anyone knows of a fix. I hate the thought how much money I'm going to lose if I end up having to sell this car because the problem can't be remedied. Oh, how I wish I had high frequency hearing loss right about now.

Not sure exactly how a class action lawsuit works but I'm sure everyone here would be down for that. I cannot stand this noise and I highly doubt Infiniti is working on this issue.

Well, you'd have to get a lawyer interested who thinks s/he can (a) get money out of the company, (b) can show that the problem is serious enough, (c) happens across enough of the product line to warrant class-action status, and (d) enough people to join the lawsuit. And they have to be sued in a particular state, preferably one with the best (for consumers) laws in terms of winning a case such as this.

Update: Took my car into the dealership today and got exactly what I expected... NOTHING. The tech couldn't hear the sound. They had the youngest tech try to hear the noise and he couldn't hear anything either. They called Infiniti tech support and were told that Infiniti is aware of the problem and are "working on a fix". That roughly equates to "too bad for you, sucker". I'm so frustrated. I asked them to reset or replace the ECM, but they wouldn't even do that because "they're not sure it's going to fix the problem". So... the solution to the problem is to not do anything because it might not work??! That is ridiculous.

I don't know what else to do. My husband has a call out to the Department of Justice to see about Lemon Laws, but I have a feeling I'm stuck. I'm very frustrated at this point. I would like to get rid of the car altogether. Anyone want to buy an 09 G37 Sedan? Mint condition.
