Bought Tickets To Brazil

Well... the wife and I decided that we would spend Christmas and New Years in Brazil with her family. Round-trip tickets for an 18 day stay came out to $2,300 total (ticket insurance included). Will be leaving on 12/24 and arrive in the afternoon on 12/25.

It's a long ways away but we like to plan ahead. I'm really looking forward to this trip!

DCG.. we went through Orbitz and believe it or not they didn't have a lot of seats available. Insurance on the tickets was only $120. We are going to Joao Pessoa. It is near the north eastern corner of the country. Very beautiful and the waters are blue blue blue. It'll be my 2nd trip.

Yes sir!! She has no family here (except mine). Her father sent her to America to be a doctor about 10 years ago. She has made her family very proud.

You will love it. I did a trip with friends about 4 years ago. Went to Rio de Janiero, Brazil then Santiago, Chile then Lima, Peru. Was an amazing time. Brazil is beautiful and so are the girls. Just watch out for those little kids, one grabbed my camera while I was taking a pic and ran. None of us could catch him.

Hmm probably has a lot to do with Christmas and such. Last trip I went on I purchased a first-class ticket 3 months in advance and the damn prices went down, last time I book in advance. Same thing with my cruise I'm going on 5/31 went down $300/person (they gave me the difference back though)! Travel insurance is always a good idea especially when traveling intl.

I've been to Brazil about 15 - 20 times (mostly to Rio) and probably going there again in a few months. Christmas and New Years are pretty big events for most Brazilians that I know so buying tickets a longtime in advance would be required for that time of year. Enjoy Joao Pessoa, never been there but have to Natal which is not so far. Beautiful country.

PS - My wife's Brazilian as well and we're getting ready to sell our apartment in Leblon.

Wife has been to Natal many times before.... she tells me stories.... the beaches are breath taking.... so I have to start working out religiously as to not scare anyone off the sand!!!

There is a very special island called FERNANDO DE NORONHA that is about an hour flight east. Tell her you want to go there. Famous for snorkeling and scuba. Look it up on the internet.

If you need any pointers or words of advice I can put you in contact with my pops who for the last 4 year has lived about 80% of the year in Brazil.

Got to be careful around there, my dad has come to live with the realization that he will probably get robbed almost once a week, or at least have an attempt to.

Graham... I know what you mean... last time we were visiting I pulled a wad off cash out to buy something at a local store... her friends and family were with me and basicallly told me never to do that again because I would get jumped!
