Valet tipping etiquette?

Only place I will valet at is one of the casino's in st.louis. They take all the new nicer cars and park them in the first floor. I watch them pull it in. Now they can go take it back out, but I check my mileage and so far so good.
I usually tip them 8-10 bucks.

F430's, 911 turbo's, aston martin DB9's, viper's!!! it must be very tempting for these valet parkers. I'm looking for a valet parking job as of right now.. but most places only hire drivers with clean driving records... I'm too much of a speed demon to qualify for that.. 2 violations and 1 for speeding so far, anyone need a valet parker in the capital district let me know!!

i dont like to valet... but i always do because im lazy i usually give $2-7 depending where i am and whos parking the car. older gentlemen i give a bit more

Another good alternative if the valet lot is at the location you are going to is to allow them to valet park it and wait and request your keys back after it's parked. Then give them the keys to pull your car back around when you leave. It's kind of a compromise but I still prefer not to even do that if possible.

i wouldn't let valets park my car, they love to have fun with nice cars, my cousin works as a valet so i know, lol

Lolololz. I remember one time we found 3 grand in a car. Well it wasn't me it was a homie and he didn't want to tell us which car it was. He only took 100 out of it, not like we could find that car it was in. We had bunch of cars that day like 200 cars. Average day I used to get like 20 dollars out of just taking quarters out of cars lol.

Thats juvenile lol... This is the reason why i would never let anyone touch my car except me.

you ****ing thief! how do you know that guy who owns the car is not a BALLER and left the money there on purpose... He would've ****ed you up. Another reason to not trust valet's... even though I would never steal something when I start to valet.. maybe rev the engine up a little to see what it sounds like.. and maybe test out the speakers and maybe some other bad but sick stuff

No one but me touches my car so no need for Valet. If a place doesn't let you park your car yourself, I simply won't go there.

I was a valet for several years at one of the most prestigious country clubs in Tampa and most the guys I worked with handled the cars properly. Every once in a while when we had a big event and they bring in a couple rooks then they could not resist driving the cars hard.

I always just offer to pay the valet $5 or $10 when I get there to park it myslf in their reserved area. Then they dont care cause they made some money, you dont have to give up your car and you get primo parking.

i used to valet cars. tipping at my place was expected when you picked the car up. Larger tipping is expected when YOU get free parking. If you pay for the valet, lesser tip is assumed. BTW, you cannot always assume that valets pool tips. I worked at places that did, but most did NOT pool tips. Typically because the valet must hurry and run to go get your car, and why should I support a lazy valet attendant by pooling MY tips with his.

Valets seldom take care of cars and are always in a hurry. I've never deliberately damaged a vehicle, but it's been known to happen. I had a car with a crappy stick shift once, I shifted it out and it popped out of gear and slammed forward (backing out of a spot) Ripped the bumper half off... I just pushed it back on and continued like normal. No one ever complained.
