Basically what I'm saying (look at the picture below) when you drive and high speeds this causes the tires to flare out which in turn causes uneven wear and will eventually cause your tires to begin to feather on the insides. You can do a good job of preventing this even if you drive around 90 on the highway if you get your car aligned often. Since our stock tires are very soft (180 treadwear) they will be more prone to feathering down the road.. I recommend (if you drive decent) having your car aligned around 6-8,000 miles and make sure you rotate your tires at a regular interval like an oil change. Hope that helps a little kind of difficult for me to explain so have a look on some tires sites.

Feathering is caused by the toe alingment. If your tires are alinged straight ahead, then you will have feathering when at high speeds. This is caused by the front tires toeing out of eachother. The only way to prevent this from happening is to aling. the front toe more in to eachother. Camber alingment does not cause feathering, just wear on either the outer edge or the inner.

Will my dealer still give me a free alignment even though I have the H&R springs?

After my dealer "aligned" my old G35 coupe the ride was never the same as factory again...
I for one don't plan to get my g37 aligned unless I'm sure it needs it.

Just went in for 15K service and needed and alignment so I'd advise all to go in before 12K and have it checked even if you don't notice anything. It would have saved me $160.

you're saying alignment made your ride worse? how, in what ways? did you have springs or coils in? That's so bizarre...

Question: is the faster treadwear due solelyto the build of the Bridgestone Potenzas? In other words what I am asking is, does the G37 in terms of its weight, performance, center of gravity, suspension, etc. already leave tires vulnerable to faster wear or is that something associated with the tires themselves exclusively? The reason I ask this is because byt he time my Bridgestone Potenzas wear out I am hoping we will have better, longer lasting tires on the market to upgrade to.

The Pontenzas have a very low treadwear of 180 which means the rubber is uber soft, good for a quite ride but not for longevity. Look for tires around 380-400 to maximize wear.

Potenza's are 180
Pilot Sports are around 230 if I remember correctly, that ain't much of a difference. 380-400 is better.
