Is shooting for Invoice OTD still the way to go?

Hey all. Currently looking at a sweet little 09 coupe, I think I'm gonna get ready to talk price soon and pull the trigger. Is shooting for around invoice price OTD still a good way to go? About $3800 in taxes and fees where I'm from.

I'm asking just because I've heard random things like slightly more incentive on the coupe and whatnot, just want to make sure I'm not missing out on anything.

Hmmm you can always shoot for it. If are able to do that it will be one heck of a deal.

So basically you want the car for $3800 under invoice? I'd say that's asking for a lot, but that's just me. Go to edmunds.com & find out what incentives are on right now.

I was out the door (everything including TTL) for about $1500 under invoice on Monday (taxes here in PA are 6 percent. I also paid registration and doc fee of $150.) The key here is how much incentive money you get out of your deal.

There are currently three cash rebates that can be applied to your deal. There is a $3000 cash rebate vs Infiniti low financing offer (meaning you can't use Infiniti's financing offer if you want the $3000 off), a $500 bonus cash rebate (this can be applied with or without Infiniti financing) and a $1500 "sell-me-down" dealer rebate that dealers may or may not offer to you (you need to ask and depending on how firm you want to be you may get all $1500. Another poster (IronGuard) got all of it from one dealer and I got $750 of it from the dealer I ended up going with.) I ended up at $38200 for a G37x Coupe with Prem, Nav, Net, Mat, Spoiler and 6 oil changes.

Work from Edmunds and NADA's invoice pricing (you can use Edmunds TMV pricing too if you can pull it off...right now TMV is about $500 under invoice in my area for the coupe I bought.) Fill out the dealer request form on the Edmunds site and you will get emails from every dealer in your area almost instantly. I had 7 dealers send me emails and I did all of my negotiating that way. I spent about 45 minutes total at the actual dealership...walking the car for delivery, meeting the service personnel and signing the paperwork.

Do a little background work on the dealership you get the price on as well. Look them up on the Better Business Bureau website (the one I went with had an A+ rating...some had horrible ratings) and also ripoffreport.com to see if they have a laundry list of complaints and if they've been satisfied. It kept me out of one unscrupulous dealership who had a decent but not great price.

Good luck!

Definitely start at $5K under invoices. It never hurts to ask... There is currently the $3K incentive and $2K of sell down cash until the end of the month.

I don't know about the $3,000 incentive or $2,000 "sell-down" price. I do know about the $2,500 cash back incentive if it is a cash deal. Where are you finding the $3k and $2k at?

no the sedan only gets $2500....

coupes are limited in some areas.... out by me there isn't a lot of selection b/c people know about the nice incentives this month. If you don't jump on it this month, you'll lose out!

@gamer2k - I don't know if you have already bought, but the dealer I bought from recently (I got a sedan) is offering 11k off sticker. Granted, it's a demo - but still... http://www.infinitioflisle.com/specials/new.htm Should give you an idea on the discounts you can get off invoice. And that's advertised - I am sure they are willing to negotiate further.

That website's add expired at the end of October. I don't know how they got the price of 48,670. That exact car is sticker at $46,120. Something is not right. $11,000 off any car is going to be impossible to find. That car must of experiences some sort of damage. The car must of been damaged some how.... insurance gave them money to fix it..... money was used for the discount instead.

da mayor is right. Some crazy deals are going on right now, I would take advantage of these last few days in the month.
