What percentage have 4WAS?

I'm curious as to the percentage of people who have 4WAS vs not. Solo seems to think a lot of people opted for it, so I'm curious as to numbers cause I thought most didn't get it.

I have it only because it is part of the sport package on the Skyline here. Wasn't really interested in the extra weight and complexity. Not sure if I could tell the difference between a car with or without it, but fun to tell people about at least.

from what i hear, 4was is nice for daily driver type road use...things like sharper turns, lane changes, fast exit and on ramps, etc feel nicer...however for raw tracking i hear its better without so that the system does not interfere with your cars natural performance (eg drifting) when pushed to the limits...

me personally i got it because my model was on the lot as I wanted her, FULLY loaded black on black 6 M/T.....I wasn't about to special order to get it without 4WAS...sooo...yeah...

BTW - is it true that us 4WAS owners will have more trouble or issues when going for aftermarket exhaust and that some systems will be non compatible with 4WAS?? Also 4WAS doesn't have any separate maintenance functions needed to run properly over the years does it???

Yes 4was is more for daily drivers which is me with over 12700 miles now. I would not of got it if i was building a track king but im more into a show queen. Yes not all exhausts will clear the 4was but i know that many do. I love my car with its options b/c of how i am building it. however, it is something you should think about.

i was just saying that their are more people out there not on these forums who want aftermarket parts so if you build your kits, systems etc to work with all cars you can corner the market a little bit more.

^ its out already. And from here its 1/3 at this point. So ithink its fair to say that a kit for all cars would make sense. Not to mention ive never asked anyone for any help bu you all are reaping benefits of my driving, my giving up my car for testing etc. If we could get something for all cars it would be great for everyone.

I got every option except the 4 wheel steer. I drove both and could not really tell the difference.

Stillen only has camber adjustment for the rear...not the fronts yet as far as I know.

Definitely if there's a universal kit, it would be better not just from a consumer stand point, but also a manufacturer stand point. The question is if it is feasible. I'm not gonna buy a product that "technically works" but "is a little off" b/c it was designed from a 4WAS car. Just like how I'm sure you're not gonna want to put non-4WAS parts on your car even if they work but are "slightly off" b/c they were designed from a non-4WAS.

This situation is similiar to how people are using G35 springs on their G37s...its works, but thats not what it was designed for and thus there is variation and drops the car lower than its supposed to. To me, this is only a temporary solution till more parts come out. I rather buy something designed for the car specifically...that's why I'm waiting on G37 specific applications. Do it once...do it right.

I'm not sure what you're trying to point at with "Not to mention ive never asked anyone for any help bu you all are reaping benefits of my driving, my giving up my car for testing etc."...but you had your own reasons for doing that (cheap parts for being the test mule, car exposure for your car club, etc etc). If the manufacturers want to produce a product for a car to make a profit, they will find a way to test and make the parts. Not that people aren't ungrateful, but its not really a bargaining chip in terms of people owing you something.

Best case scenario is that the manufacturers make 1 application for 4WAS and another for non-4WAS.

When I was deciding what I wanted in my car, I test drove a NON 4WAS car, then a 4WAS car, then a NON 4WAS car- there was no question what I was going to buy. I bought the 4WAS system and absolutely love it!
