It's pretty common. Check out blend mounts website. Blendmount.com - Custom Radar Detector Mounts Escort Beltronics Valentine One

V1 is good. But doesn't come with Laser shifters like the 9500ci. You could always buy the 9500ix or Redline and add on the ZR-4 Laser shifter to save a lot of money.

I have an Escort SRX. It is stealth mounted, meaning the sensors are mounted within the grill. It also comes with laser shifters (ZR-3, previous model to the ZR-4 but still effective) to deflect laser as well as detect it, two in front and one in back (only been shot when going through St. Louis though). The radar unit is technically the 8500, which is a really nice unit. If you don't want to shift lasers I'd go with the 9500ix, GPS feature is awesome. But, the shifters are definitely nice and the low profile display is even better. But, it doesn't allow for easy transfer from vehicle to vehicle. If you're patient you should be able to snag a used unit on eBay for about $300-$400. Be careful though, there is also an SR7 model that looks identical but doesn't come with the laser shifters (hint: if the package has 3 thin black mountable bars, it has laser shifters)

but when you're in a situation with an officer using QT and your 9500 doesnt even warn where as a V1, albeit a weak signal strength, I doubt you would mind the false alerts....

Yep. +1 and if the LEO is using laser and your unit detects but does not have the shifting feature you are pretty much dead meat as soon as you get the hit. My unit has probably saved me a few grand by now.........

P.S On long trips I back it up with an E8500. Just like a condom, One can never have too much protection!

I have the Pasport 9500ix with the BlendMount and the BlendMount power cord that plugs into the back of the mirror and it performs very well. We have a lot of speed indicator signs around town that use K band and the feature that marks and ignores them is really nice. The only complaint I have is one I posted in another thread where the HID headlights set off the laser detector if they reflect off the garage wall or another vehicle in front of you.

I have a friend in TX that has the 9500ci installed in his Yukon and it works very well. If you have the cash to spend and a good installer that you trust I would recommend that unit.

Just so you know, that is just the display mounted in the mirror. Not the detection unit itself.

The V1, passports, bel, etc are all top of the line very good radar detectors.

Im reading a lot of people saying this one is the best, no this one is the best, no mine is the best.

Truthfully, they all are the top of the line but depending on your INDIVIDUAL needs, what might be the best for someone, wont be the best for you.

Radar Detector Jammer Forum

Radar Detector Tests and Reviews by Guys of LIDAR

Read up. Decide what your needs are and what one suits you the best.

Also, check out your state in the radardetector forums to find out what types of radar or laser your cops use. Depending on what is used in your area, you might choose the passport over the V1 or vise versa for slightly increased sensitivity to what your local cops are using.

Ive owned detectors from all brands and they all have their pros and cons. Read up on all of them and decide what your needs are and find the best fit for you.

My 9500 has a perfect track record against CHP's I/O Ka. I travel from San Diego to LA twice a month, and San Diego to Las Vegas at least once a month.

I understand that ALL radar encounters are different and depending on the envoirment and surroundings range could be different. Seeing that most of us rate our radars based upon our REAL WORLD driving experiences, I have decided to compare a few different encounters that were as close as possible driving tourane. Very interesting to see who displayed better range and more warning on same band encounters, take a look !
