I've tried both and pro's have advised me against them. Price wise they are obviously more, but their arguement is. With a average golfer, steel shafts will give you a more consitant shot. Granted a graphite will produce a more accurate, more powerful shot, but only to a near professional golfer. the best example he gave me was swimming. Olympic swimmers are swimming as fast as the human body can possibly go, just to get that extra little edge to grab an extra millisecond they shave the hair or wear full body suits to prevent drag. even though its very minimal the differnce. When Tiger plays golf against Love. they are two of the best golfers, they need the graphite shafts because they are so precise as it is, they need every little piece of help to get an advantage on the other player. For newbies or just average golfers, the money spent and your skill level doesn't justify it. But if you want to look super baller go all graphite and people will be impressed by your clubs not your game. "The distance it travels depends, on the Indian throwing the axe, not the axe itself." I think arnold palmer said something like that.
